THE RAIN
It has rained and rained and rained a lot lately. It did stop occasionally long enough for me to mow the lawn at least. Haha. During one particular downpour this week the girls begged to go play in it. Crystal put on her handy rain boots, and they both put their coats on and headed outside.... I on the other hand watched from the window. Haha. They were both soaked within minutes. On a positive note, at least I haven't had to water the lawn in a few weeks (as I type this I can hear to another thunderstorm roll in)!
THE BIKE CHALLENGE
The two school districts in Idaho Falls have been participating in a bike challenge this month sponsored by a local bike shop. Every student that participates and completes the challenge gets a free tshirt and entered into a drawing for a bike! Crystal is supposed to ride her bike 12 times in May for 15 minutes each. So despite thunderstorms and downpours every day the past few weeks, we have spent a lot of time on our bikes! Every time the rain let up or the sun came out, we headed outside to get our 15 minutes in. Tomorrow is the last day, and we finished our 12th ride today just in time!
THE ZOO
Today we had our LAST preschool field trip of the year! I can't believe the year is over already! Only 2 more classes and these adorable kids will be moving on. I'm going to miss them! I had such a wonderful group of kids this year!
We have been talking about Zoo Animals and Zookeepers in preschool for the past 2 weeks, so for our last field trip, we went to the Idaho Falls Zoo (thank goodness the weather cooperated! Yay). Aside from losing Jay for a few minutes (very scary when you are surrounded by wild animals and can't find your 2 year old...oy!), we all had a great time!
THE FINGERNAIL
Lily smashed her finger in the car door a few weeks ago. It was pretty nasty. She had a good sized cut on the side of it, bruised the tip of it, and had a blood blister under her nail. It was so bad that it looked like we painted her fingernail black. Ty's uncles put a hole in the middle of her nail to release pressure and put a liquid bandaid on the cut.
The cut healed a lot better than we expected and it hasn't hurt for over a week, but looking at it freaked her out so much that she had to have a bandaid on it at all times! Last weekend I finally painted her nail so she couldn't see it.
Several times we've gently mentioned to her that her nail was going to fall off and a new one was going to grow under it. I wanted her to be prepared when it happened so she wouldn't freak out. Crystal pointed out that it would be just like losing a tooth (Lily can't wait to lose a tooth... I've been worried she's going to pull her teeth before they are ready just so the tooth fairy will come to her like it does to Crystal. haha), so now she thinks the 'nail fairy' is going to come get her nail when it falls off... oy! Anyway tonight as we were getting ready for bed, Lily mentioned that she could lift her nail up. I had her do it for me and took a picture. haha. Her nail is only attached at the bottom under her cuticle. It's gross and fascinating at the same time. lol.
