DAY 0: TRAVEL DAY

 DAY 0

TRAVEL DAY
Our flight was a little more eventful than we expected. While we were waiting for our flight to leave, my brother checked the weather in Orlando. It said there were tornado warnings in the area. Oy Vey! I figured we still had a 4 hour flight and it would have moved on by the time we got there. Well we were about 30 minutes from the airport when the pilot was informed the airport had been shut down. We circled the air for about an hour and then landed in Tallahassee to refuel where we waited for another 45 minutes on the plane. Orlando anticipated reopening soon so we took off again. We hit some pretty scary turbulence and had to circle for a while ... waiting our turn to land since they were understandably backed up. The pilot made an awesome landing considering we were in the middle of a huge storm. Everyone clapped and cheered when the plane hit the runway. When the plane stopped the pilot got on and let us know we were going to wait on the runway for a while... along with about 10 other planes because there was lightening. Frankly I was just happy we were finally there!
When we finally made it to the terminal, I was really excited for a little more space to breathe. I had no such luck. The airport was so FULL of people. I have seriously never seen so many people in the airport before. We literally had to push through hundreds of people just to get out of the terminal. It was all pretty crazy. Because we got there so much later than expected, our bags didn't make it to our hotel until the middle of the night (we stayed onsite so Disney picked our bags up from the airport and took them to our rooms). I was so worried our bags and stroller wouldn't make it I couldn't sleep... and we had such a big day the next day!
You would have thought with all the delays that we would have been miserable all day, but in reality we had a pretty good time. When we took off from SLC the kids actually cheered as if we were on a roller coaster! Haha. It had the other passengers on the plane laughing. There were 17 of us and the 9 kids were all wearing the same shirt, so we were hard not to notice. Then the kids loved that they each had their own screen to watch movies or play games. They LOVED every minute of the very long flight. Getting to land in Tallahassee and then take off again was just an added bonus for them. LOL.
