FREEPORT

We were supposed to visit Carnival's private island but the water was so rough the ship couldn't port. They said it was hurricane sized waves and after making several attempts throughout the night they gave up and moved on. They were then able to set up a spot to port at Freeport instead which was still reeling from a recent hurricane. We were supposed to stop here originally so I had already done my research and knew just where to go! We hitched a ride to the other side of the island where - even though the beach had been destroyed by the hurricane - we were able to snorkel in a reef, see tons of awesome fish and coral AND swim with sea turtles! IT was such an amazing experience. Because of the hurricane a lot of sea life had washed ashore and we had conches and full sized sand dollars to pick from. The owner told us that if the sand dollars were brown/white/gray they were dead and we could take them. When we got home and pulled them all out we found a tiny little crab that had found a shell far to large for it and we hadn't seen it even after bringing it back on the ship! Whoops!!!
