NO MORE CAST
Lily had her cast removed last week! The doctor originally wanted to go to an OR and put her under to remove the pins in her arm. But after talking about it with him, Ty and I felt she would be okay getting it done in the office. I'm not going to lie, money was a factor in making this decision. Paying for another OR visit just to put her under for 'a few seconds' wasn't all that appealing. But in all reality, when Lily was in the first surgery I couldn't stop myself from wondering what would happen if something went wrong. The procedure was pretty standard, and I had all the faith in the world in our doctor, but anything could happen and there was nothing I could do about it. I hated that feeling. Ty felt the same way. We honestly felt like the risks outweighed the benefits. I told the doctor if it was going to be excruciatingly painful for her, I didn't want to do it in the office, but he assured me it wasn't that bad and that she would be fine.
So the day came, and I made Ty come too for extra support. I'm so glad he was able to make it. The second the nurse took her cast off, Lily insisted we put it back on! Haha! Her arm felt funny and her muscles were stiff and sore. They did more xrays, and Ty entertained her with thumb wars until the doctor came in. She sat on Ty's lap, and the doctor pulled the pins out. It hurt, but only for a few seconds. She was pretty upset for a few minutes while he bandaged it back up (she was still worried he was going to pull another one out or something). By the time we left the room she was back to her old self. After a week she still says it really hurt to get the pins out, but she was tough and did awesome! Ty on the other hand had to lay down for a minute. Haha. It made him light headed.
All in all I think the 45 minutes it took to get the first splint on at Redicare was ten times more traumatic for her than getting her pins out. I'm so glad we had such an amazing doctor. Her arm xrays look great, and she's already using her arm a ton again. She can even straighten it out all the way now!
I really thought I got a good pic of the pin in her arm but the docs finger apparently got in the way the last second
Already making funny faces just seconds after getting her bandage on. I told her I forgot to take a picture so there's not even any proof that she ever cried. Haha!
Because she did so well at the doctor's office and she was so brave, we got an ice cream on the way home!
Can you tell he loves his ice cream?
THE MANY FACES OF JACOB
LEO'S PLACE AGAIN
The girls had free playland passes at Leo's Place that were expiring so we HAD to use them right?
My adorable niece!
THE ZOO
I decided I'd better take the kids to the zoo Friday since it was closing for the season the next day. Saturday was Free Day, but I decided I'd rather pay $11 then fight the crowd (then it rained - and by rain I mean the sky dropped a waterfall on us - all day Saturday so I don't think it was as crowded as I thought it would be. Haha).
