PRESCHOOL
I bit the bullet this year and ordered shirts instead of doing them myself with transfer paper. They'll last longer, and it was 5000% less stressful so it was totally worth paying more for! lol. I looked everywhere online, and no one sells xxs anymore so the shirts are going to drown most of them. The xs (2/4) run a little big. Hopefully they shrink a lot when washed in hot water. Haha.
The most exciting part is we will have our first field trip this week!!!!! We're all gonna look great in our awesome new blue shirts! ;-)
I had Jay try the shirt on to see how it looked. He took one look at it and said, "MOM it's just like the poster!" And he ran over and grabbed my welcome sign for preschool. Haha. He's more observant than I thought!
EYE DOCTOR
The WHOLE family had eye appointments this week. Jay isn't old enough yet (since he has no obvious issues), so it was really just the 4 of us. Jay actually felt left out and wanted to do it too. Haha.
Crystal's eyes have gotten better. She barely has any astigmatism and her farsightedness is completely gone. This could actually be concerning because at her young age she could actually over grow and end up nearsighted but we'll just have to wait and see.
I didn't think to take a picture until it was Lily's turn so that's the only proof I have. Lol. Lily is still pretty farsighted. She could use glasses to correct it, but they are not necessary, so we are just going to watch her for now.
My eyes haven't changed at all in 4/5 years. The eye doctor says he almost never sees that happen. Too bad I still need contacts. They didn't magically fix themselves. lol.
Ty had his first eye appointment ever. In all our traveling this summer we noticed I could read signs long before he could while driving, so we thought he'd better join us this time. He has astigmatism. He was fascinated by how much better he could see with the lens in. He decided on glasses for now and is actually having a hard time adjusting to them. Hopefully it starts getting better in the next couple of weeks, so he can enjoy sight again! lol.
REAL LIFE MOMENT
I just had to document the fact that we made it to story time this week. I was having one of those days where I didn't want to get out of bed. And when I did (someone had to pick Lily up from school...lol) I didn't want to do anything. Seriously. I had so little energy that just thinking about getting anything done was painful! But I knew I needed to do something to fight it. So we went to story time. Even though I really really really really really didn't want to, we got in the car and drove to the library. I still didn't feel great when we got back and didn't get much done around the house, but I was glad I left the house and did something semi productive.
EGGS
(I already shared this on facebook but I'm going to share it here so it makes it in my yearly blog-to-book. )
We got our first eggs from our chickens today! They are 5.5 months old. And we have been waiting and watching intently for the first eggs to appear. I knew it could take until 6 months or more, but the waiting was killing me. Lol. Anyway, whenever I was out back doing something and heard the chickens making a lot of noise, I'd get a little excited and go check the nesting box, but always nothing! lol.
Well this afternoon the kids were out on the back deck playing, and the girls came in and said, "Mom something is making a weird noise outside. It sounds like this (insert sound here)." My first thought was it must have been the chickens. I told them "Maybe one of them is finally laying." Crystal and Lily ran out to the coop and checked the nesting box. Sure enough there was an egg in it! And not just one egg but TWO EGGS!!!! Two of our three chickens must have decided to start laying today!!! The girls ran in screaming like it was Christmas morning. Haha.
I went out to see (I honestly still didn't believe them... and thought if there were 2 eggs then at least one of the eggs was the fake one we have). Sure enough there were 2 medium sized eggs in the nesting box!!! They were even a little bigger than I expected for their first egg.
We brought them in to show Ty, and he says, "Oh good I was worried it was going to be 1- $500 egg instead it's 2- $250 eggs. That's way better." Haha. I told him it's okay. That just means the rest of the eggs they produce will be free! Lol.
