July: BIG SPRINGS AND MORE

 FUN WITH FRIENDS

We had friends over for some backyard fun this summer! We roasted hot dogs and marshmallows, played yard games and played in the pool! 

2ND GIRL'S CAMP

I thought to snap a picture of bringing the girls home from their second girls' camp of the summer. They also went to 4H camp with Jay the month before. It was a fun month of camping!!!

4-H DUCK TAPE FASHION SHOW

The kids had fun making all sorts of fun things with duck tape and then showing it all off for the parents!

INJURED CHICKEN

Max followed Jay into the shed one day and luck would have it that the coop wasn't latched tight. He happily ran in and barked and chased all the chickens away. I got Max out and asked Ty to go check to make sure all the chickens were still there. He didn't do a very good job because the next day we opened the shed and found one wandering around in there. She was fine, and we put her in the coop. That night Ty went in to make sure they had all made it in the coop since he had had the run open all day, and he noticed we were missing a chicken. We searched for it for far too long in the middle of the night (we checked the shed several times as well). The next afternoon, we were telling the kids what had happened, and Jay goes, "Oh well one of the chickens Max chased jumped behind the snow blower." We didn't think it could be the missing chicken because we'd searched the shed so many times since the incident and couldn't find anything. I finally told him to go show dad where it had jumped and sure enough Ty came in with an injured and lethargic chicken. She couldn't walk on her leg despite it appearing and feeling unbroken. It had also been 2 full days since Max had chased the chickens around, and this chicken hadn't made ANY noise in the spot she was stuck in. Not a ruffle or a balk. Nothing. It took several weeks keeping her in the garage and dog run, and she wasn't eating the whole time, but she eventually decided on her own to hobble back into the coop. She must have also started eating again because it has been months as I write this, and she's happy and healthy again. She's not even hobbling anymore! 

BIG SPRINGS FLOAT

We had fun floating Big Springs this year! We found the rope swing and stopped for a bit to jump in a few times to cool off! We ended up having pizza in Ashton on our way home!
