LILY VOLLEYBALL
Lily had a good time playing volleyball this season. I was able to help out with her team a little. I really enjoyed watching her grow and improve this season. I, however, was reminded of all of the politics and clicks involved with the sport and why I stopped playing before high school was over. I love the game, but I don't love the stress/drama that comes with it. Haha.
At their last regular season tournament, they got first place!! The next weekend they played in a huge tournament in Idaho Falls. Of the 21 teams, we were lucky enough to play the team that ended up getting first place in our very first match of the day. It didn't go all that well. They jump served the crap out of us. Haha. It wasn't a great way to start the day. We ended up going into the Bronze bracket in first seed. The girls were tired. It had been a long day, and they had never played this many games in a day before. But they pulled it together to win the next 2 matches to get first place in the Bronze Bracket.
Crystal learned to make macaroons. And they were delicious. And I made her make 3 more batches for mother's day dinner. And they were amazing! Meanwhile, Ty and I built a shelf. It's actually quite sturdy and fit perfectly in the spot it was intended for. The process didn't go without it's hiccups, but I was impressed it went as well as it did. Haha.
HOPE OF AMERICA
All the 5th grade classes in the district got together for a huge end of year program. They do it every year but this was our first since Crystal missed out on it due to Covid. It was truly an amazing program. My parents watched it live at home and afterwards she told me it was the best school program she had ever seen. It's pretty amazing. I need to figure out how to download it off youtube so I can have it forever!
LIVIE TURNS 3!
I have a random picture of Zoey and Crystal. I think Zo tried to stow away with us. Haha. Now on to little Livie. She's getting so big!
Crystal's band teacher is leaving us. I am so beyond sad. Crystal has just loved having her as a teacher and she has been able to bring Crystal out of her shell the past couple years. We are going to miss her!
ART AND CULTURAL NIGHT
I don't know why I didn't take a picture of Jay's project. I think it was a picture of a bearded dragon or something. Jay was with us so he was there to show it to us and talk to us about it. Lily wasn't there so I took a picture of it so we could chat with her about it when we got home. Also hers was going into space the next day and she wasn't going to be able to bring it home, so I snapped a quick picture.
Lily showed off her skills to us this weekend. She was nervous about it, but she did great. This will probably be her last year of gymnastics. She is sad to see it go, but she is going into middle school next year and won't have time for everything next year. She has to pick just one afterschool activity. You'd think it would be gymnastics or volleyball since that's what she did this year, but it's actually looking like she may go back to good old soccer this year! I'm excited to see her grow in a new but not so new sport!
Speaking of soccer, Crystal ran after the soccer ball during a game, just as a person on the other team booted it. She was about 3 ft from the kick and the ball flew at a sharp angle right up into her nose. It knocked her to the ground. If anyone knows Crystal, they know that her nose will bleed if you look at it wrong, so I was sure there was going to be blood everywhere. Everyone on the sideline were looking around for tissues. Someone tossed me wet wipes and I ran over to her. Shockingly there was no blood. She jumped back in the game as soon as she could. She does have a nice bruise on her nose now though. And it HURT for a long time. Bending over, touching it, pretty much anything hurt it for a week or so. It may have been broken but my nurse-brother agreed that it was still straight and she could breathe fine so it probably wasn't worth finding out either way. Haha.
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL - Crystal had her last day the day before but I made her put yesterday's clothes on and come out to pose for pictures. Haha.
5TH GRADE PROMOTION - Crystal came so she could see what she missed out on during Covid. Haha. She's been feeling all the feels this month about how Covid ruined 5th grade for her. Seeing her sister do all the things she didn't. She's been handling it like a champ though. Such is life.
Lily had such a fun year this year. She went out and just did it all. She was an office helper, on Hope Squad, she read to the little kids, and helped with the school newspaper. I have seen her really shine this year, and it's all because of her 2 amazing teachers and good friends. Now she's on to middle school, and I'm not sure how I feel about that!
MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND
As soon as the kids got home from their last day of school we headed to the lake to go camping. We knew the weather wasn't going to be the best, but we went anyway. We got some nice weather Friday, but it rained cats and dogs most the day Saturday. We had issues with the pump at the property and some water issues with the trailer. Saturday we headed into Ashton to get parts to fix the pump and the trailer. While we were there, we decided to check out Mesa Falls. It was wet and chilly but we had fun. Poor Roscoe was SOAKED. I couldn't tell if he was enjoying it or just suffering through it because he wanted to be with us. Haha. Either way I guess he had a good time with the family.
The kids love this little teeter-totter toy. Most of them are far too big for it and yet they all seem to have the grandest time playing on it. Haha. My mom said the other day she didn't think the kids used it, but I don't know how many pictures I have of them playing together on this little toy. SO so many.
