We have the basement all cleaned up and ready to be finished, so naturally the kids have been playing down there a lot. Saturday all 3 kids had friends over and they were going back and forth from outside to the basement. At one point Crystal and one of her friends came inside and headed for the stairs. I looked up from my project and saw her friend had our metal bat in her hand. I asked what they needed the bat for. She said, "to hit stuffed animals with." I told them as the headed down that the bat didn't belong in the house. I definitely should have confiscated that bat at that point, but they were already downstairs and I knew the stuffed animals were all buried under the stairs until the basement was finished so I figured they wouldn't find anything to use it on and it would be okay. WRONG! They found a little stress ball somewhere and as she swung at the ball Jay walked in the way of the bat. It bled... a lot... like a lot a lot. It scraped his head causing his skin to more pull away from his head than actually cutting it. The actual cut was very deep but also small. I finally managed to get him in the tub to soak it and it cleaned up well enough that we were able to superglue the cut shut. Problem is the skin around it was bleeding underneath and started bleeding through his pores around the cut. It was weird. We pulled the clippers out and cut the sides of his hair so we could get it out of the way as much as possible. Then we used another bottle of skin superglue to get the bleeding to stop. He got himself a nice new haircut out of it at least I guess! We were supposed to go out to dinner for Crystal's birthday but instead Crystal and I brought food home. Jay wasn't feeling up to eating much.
Poor kid definitely had a small concussion. His eyes were dilating okay, and he could answer questions and didn't show any serious signs of a concussion, but he had the worst time concentrating the entire week that week and really struggled at school. He had a headache for a couple of days and couldn't handle loud noises at all. After a week he was back to his old self though! And after a couple of months the wound has healed up nicely. There is only a small scar now. It matches with the tiny scar on the other side of his head from the wound we had to superglue when he was a baby! The kid is so accident prone!!!
