MONDAY
TRICK OR TREAT STREET
Snake River Landing in Idaho Falls has trick or treating every year. Some of the RV places in town park their trailers along the road, and the surrounding businesses decorate them and pass out candy to the kids. The wind was blowing so it was pretty cold outside, but the kids had a blast regardless!
My adorable Cat, Alien, and Pirate.
Cousins!
Entertaining themselves while waiting in line!
CORN MAZE
Ty won tickets on the radio to the corn maze in Blackfoot, so we went for family night this week! The maze had a Clue type farm investigation game that we played. Each check point had a place on a farm, an animal (who did it?), and farm tool (weapon). When we had checked all but one off, we knew who did it, where it happened, and with what weapon. The kids loved it! Aside from the maze, they had jump toys, slides, and a haystack maze. We all had a really good time!
(PS. it was kinda cold... haha)
TUESDAY
WARD CARNIVAL
Our ward had a fall carnival this week. The kids dressed up in their costumes, and they had a costume parade! There was a chili cook off for which we had over 20 different types of chili to choose from! Dinner was great, and the young men/women had a carnival for the kids too!
WEDNESDAY
PUMPKIN CLEANING
We still had yet to carve our pumpkins for Halloween, and we only had two days left. So I decided the kids and I could cut down carving time when Ty was home if we cleaned out the pumpkins first. I was surprised how much Jay enjoyed it! Haha! We then picked the seeds out of the pumpkin guts, cleaned them up, and stuck them in the oven for 24 hours. We love pumpkin seeds in this family!
BOO AT THE ZOO
The Idaho Falls Zoo has trick or treating and other activities a few days before Halloween every year. I love going to the zoo this time of year! Its cooler outside so the animals are always out and active! The girls decided they wanted to be princesses today! Lily wore her Ariel outfit, and Crystal wore her Snow White dress. Jay stuck with his adorable alien costume... which he really enjoyed wearing by the way. :D
THURSDAY
Thursday for preschool all the kids came in their Halloween costumes! We read Halloween stories, played a Halloween shape/color walk game, had a fun sensory lesson by cleaning out and carving a pumpkin! We also made seeds from the pumpkin and everyone was able to try some seeds that I'd made the day before! Then we watched a Halloween video and had popcorn for snack!(I haven't gotten permission from parents to post kids pictures, so I only have the one picture from today, but they had fun I promise!)
Lily helping clean out our preschool pumpkin!
PUMPKIN CARVING
Ty finally managed to get pumpkins carved Thursday night! YAY! The kids were so excited!
FRIDAY
HALLOWEEN AT THE LIBRARY
We went to a special Halloween story time at the library today! They listened to a story telling of "The Little Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid Of Anything." The lady did an awesome job. She had the story memorized and didn't even use the book. She had the kids do all the actions with her! They loved it! After story time they lined up and trick or treated through the library! It was fun!
TRICK OR TREATING
Ty's parents had one of our friends' son for the night (his mom had a baby the day before) so they came to our house, and we went trick or treating with us!
(How many takes does it take to get ONE with all of them looking or smiling? I don't know I finally gave up... haha...)
Notice Crystal's missing cat ears? We managed to keep them all week and lost them just hours before trick or treating. We both searched the house 3 times... and the car. After trick or treating, we were in the car, and I turned to look back at the kids and found them on Ty's headrest. Lol. We apparently didn't look up when checking the car. We were just looking on the floor.
The statue on the porch was motion activated. It talked and laughed when you got to the top of the stairs, and its head and EYES would move. Its eyes were especially creepishly real! Crystal was TERRIFIED of it. Haha. She tried not to be, but she couldn't help it! It was scary! Lily wasn't so sure either. She would laugh at it but still kept her distance! Then to top if off no one was home! Haha! All that bravery for nothing! ;-)
THE AFTER PARTY
After trick or treating we went to Ty's parents' house for pizza and homemade rootbeer (or witches brew if you ask Ty. haha)! The kids were fascinated by the dry ice!
Pic with the cat ears. haha. Jay wouldn't get in the picture. He was too busy playing.
Needless to say, we have enough candy for at least a year. I think we'll be donating halloween candy to Santa for the kids stockings this year (they'll never notice right?). Haha. I haven't decided how I feel about this week long Halloween thing, but the kids sure enjoyed it! And I feel like we got good use out of their costumes too so that was nice. Haha.
RANDOM PICTURES OF THE WEEK
Yes I still had time for a few random pictures
Preschool Autumn Tear Art
Preschool Egg Shell Crunch
The girls came into the living room yelling, "Mom come look we cleaned the bathroom for you!" Oy!!!!! Yes yes you did! Haha! The bathroom was sopping wet.... and suddy. Lol. It was rather sweet of them to help out though so I couldn't be mad. Haha. Now I just need to show them how to use the toilet brush and we'll be set! :D
