FIRE STATION
We went to the fire station on a field trip a few weeks ago! I was kicking myself for not pulling my camera out sooner. One of the firemen giving us the tour put his suit on piece by piece to help the kids feel less afraid of what he looks like with all his gear on. Seriously went from a harmless friendly looking man to big scary monster in minutes. haha. He got down on his hands and knees with his scary Darth Vader mask turned on (because if the fire was bad that's where he would be and how he would sound), and the girls got on their hands and knees (cuz if there's smoke you 'get low and go'), and they told the girls that they should always go towards him and not hide from him. Only one willingly went to him... I'm sure you can all guess who. haha. Yep. Lily isn't afraid of anyone. In fact I think the scarier they are the less afraid she is! Gah! This girl worries me! Haha. We eventually got one more to go to him, but the other two were feeling a bit shy about it. I think the experience was good for them though. I would hope in a dire situation that they would remember the scary Darth Vader monster is really their friend!!!!!! Immediately after Lily finally let go of him and they got off their hands and knees, I remembered the camera. Oops. I managed to get a picture of him in his gear at least. Haha. After that they let us get in the two fire trucks and the ambulance! They showed them what things in the ambulance and fire truck were for. I was pretty impressed by it all. They did a really good job! And the kids all got pink firefighter hats afterwards (well he had a red on for jay. haha)!!!
Jay is trying to escape. Haha.
CLASS TIME
These are just some pictures of the girls at work the past few weeks! We made Noodle Art with the letter 'n,' and Octopus o's. When they are finished with a project and waiting for others to finish, the girls know to go find a file folder game to play, a book to look at, or a puzzle to put together. And they play on the rug until its time to move on. I love it when they decide to work together and help each other out all on their own without me suggesting it first!!!!!
VALENTINE'S DAY PARTY
We had fun last week celebrating Valentine's Day!!! We made Valentine Holders, made Valentine's for their parents (which I didn't take a picture of but they were handprints in the shape of a heart with a poem to go with it), made Valentine's for each other, and then handed them out! There was so much in their holders I wasn't sure they were going to hold up! Haha! The girls loved decorating their heart cupcakes and eating them too!!! I had a fun 'heart search' activity planned but we ran out of time!!! Next year!!!!
THE FIVE SENSES
We've been talking about the 5 senses the past week or so. This week while learning the letter 'p,' we used our senses to explore POPCORN! On Thursday we are going to do the same exploration with our senses on PINK POPCORN! Can't wait to see the similarities and differences!
