Crazy Busy Week!

CRYSTAL
Monday August 31st was Crystal's first day of 1st grade at Linden Park Elementary!!! She says she wants to be a police officer when she grows up (that's a new one)! She's going to a new school this year because our zoned school was full last year, and they bussed her to a different school for Kindergarten as an overflow student. Her best friend last year was an overflow student as well!!!! So at least she has a friend with her during this transition! They didn't end up in the same class but they still get to play at recess and lunch! I'd say her first week was a success!!! She loves her teacher Ms. Coney, eating school lunch, and playing with friends!

APPLE PICKING SMORE EATING
We picked apples at my parents house for family night. We turned on Grandpa's propane fire pit and made smores while we were there! Now I have a ton of apples to dehydrate/fruit leather. Oh Boy!

DENTIST
Lily had a teeny tiny cavity at her 6 mo appt. The dentist drilled and filled it without any gas/shot. Lily was so busy watching the TV on the ceiling she didn't even realize he had done anything. Lol.

Crystal is still completely CAVITY FREE! She's never had a cavity. But the dentist noticed her 2 front teeth are point away from each other which is a sign that the piece of skin attached to the top of her lip is in the way and keeping her teeth from growing together. So she had a to have a little surgery done to clip the tissue away to allow her teeth to straighten out and possible grow back together. They gave her laughing gas and he uses this super strong numbing agent before giving shots. She didn't feel a thing. He fixed it, put a stitch in and was done. I think the 'laughing gas' has adverse affects on my kids after the fact because Crystal had a minor freak out after we got home just like Lily did the first time she had it. She just cried and cried that it hurt which was impossible since she was completely numb still. I almost called the dentist but first asked her if it hurt worse that when she bit her tongue while jumping off the hope chest last year. She said, 'no I guess it only hurts a little' and suddenly she was fine. She had a hard time opening her mouth the next day but other than that she has been fine! Lets hope it is worth it and her teeth straighten out!!!

CRESS CREEK AND BIG JUD'S
Saturday we went on a little hike at Cress Creek. We all had a ton of fun but the kids loved it most I think. The girls ran from sign to sign waiting for us to read what it said! They were eager to learn and take in the sights. Jay wanted to pick up every rock on the path and ended up with a walking stick at one point ... he wasn't very good at using it. lol.
After the hike we decided to take the kids to Big Jud's. We've been meaning to do it since we moved home a year ago and just hadn't gotten around to it. They were pretty fascinated by it all! Good food and good company made for a great day!
When we got home, we headed straight to Ty's parents' house to pick from their garden. It was supposed to freeze that night so we wanted to get what we could just in case it didn't survive. I still have a box of tomatoes waiting to be canned and more (from our own garden) waiting to be made into salsa along with peppers and onions out of the garden as well!!! It was a fun filled, busy exhausting day!!!! I told Ty we need to do it more often! ;-)

RANDOM PICTURE OF THE WEEK
Anytime Jay smells anything funky while in the car he gets a look on his face, points at Daddy in front of him and yells as loud as he can, "DADDY TOOTED! DADDY TOOTED! DADDY TOOTED!!" It's pretty much hilarious! Haha.
