PRIEST LAKE 2016
We spent a week in Priest Lake, Idaho the end of June! It's about a 10 hour drive, but so fun! We stopped at the 50,000 Silver Dollar Bar. It's walls are covered in silver dollars!!! And there's a large Montana souvenir shop that we let the kids pick a prize from. The trip was pretty wet and windy. Some of the crosswinds were pretty scary. I was glad we weren't pulling a trailer!
It was freezing cold when we finally made it to the campground. I'm very glad we remembered our heater for the tent! Ty has a tradition of jumping off the dock and into the lake as soon as the tent is up, but he decided he could break tradition this one time since it was only 40 degrees outside. Haha. We went for a hike instead. We saw fallen trees with roots larger than the kids. Also some trees had the roots growing up out of the ground taller than the kids too!
The next day was still too cold for the beach so we hung out at camp and explored the "forest" a little. We brought our bikes to ride around camp, and Jay decided he wanted his training wheels off. Ty barely had to hold him at all and he was off!!! It took him a few days to figure out how to get going on his own, but by the end of the trip he was a pro! It didn't take long for Jay to also roll around in the dirt (I'm sure that's what he had to have done... lol) and become filthy from head to toe!
Sunday was a lot warmer. We went on a nice hike with everyone and hung out at camp most of the day. Grandpa Joel gave a good lesson/devotional, and Grandma Leslie had a fun activity for the kids to do! They decorated their own Priest Lake Tshirts! They all turned out great!
The next 4 days we spent at the lake! We sat on the beach and played in the water and sand! The first 3 days the weather was perfect! The 4th day the wind kicked up which made the water a little choppy. It didn't seem to phase the kids much though. They still played in the water all afternoon.
I'll admit the first day on the beach the water was FREEZING, but by the 4th day it seemed like it was warmer. Haha. Tuesday Ty told Crystal he would give her $5 towards her new bike (she's earning money for it) if she could talk Grandma Leslie into jumping off the dock. It took a little persuading but she did it! Then Ty told Lily she'd earn her entire bike if she talked Gigi into jumping off the dock! AND SHE DID IT! He then told Crystal if she talked Papa Scott into jumping off the dock she'd earn all the money for her new bike as well. Papa jumped in on our last day there. Just for her. ;-) Ty's gotta stop making bets with our kids. He loses every time!!!!
On Thursday before going to the beach, we went for a 'hike' to Hunt Falls (it was a very short hike). It took us a bit to find it, and we tried driving up the trail at first by accident. haha. But we did find it! It was beautiful! And after the kids tried giving us a heart attack a few times by standing inches from the drop-off, we took some pictures and left! Lol.
We also enjoyed getting ice cream cones up at the Park Store several times and eating from the 'candy wagon' ALL DAY LONG and often skipping lunch because of it. Haha. All three kids stood up in the Easy Ski (water skis built into a float tube) and absolutely loved it! The kids loved playing with cousins, and we also loved having Uncle Ryan there to spend time with as well!!! He even helped the kids build an impressive sand castle with a moat!
Friday on the way home the kids actually slept a decent amount of the ride (they never sleep in the car anymore). They also took a bit of time to themselves and their tablets by putting their blankets over their heads while playing games or watching movies. Haha. As soon as we got home we emptied the Expedition and headed to Walmart to get the girls new bikes! Lily got the same bike Crystal has now but it's pink and Crystal got a 7-speed. She's so excited to have a bike with multiple gears! I guess I haven't taken a picture of them yet but they are shiny and pretty... for now at least. ;-)

| He did it! But immediately swam to shore. I guess the water was a little too cold for him! Haha! |
