CASCADE SPRINGS
Saturday afternoon we took a little drive (k it was an hour drive... to a 5, 3, and 1 year old that's like eternity). But the drive was well worth it. We drove through the canyon to a place called Cascade Springs. It was beautiful. It was a nice easy and short hike around a natural spring. There were small waterfalls and bridges built over them which the girls loved walking over! There were signs everywhere explaining plant life, wild life, and information about the spring. There are fish that are trapped in the spring because it comes up out of the ground and doesn't ever reach a larger river. We were unable to see any though. Maybe next time! Lily stopped at every sign and 'read' it before she'd let us move on. We had brought dinner to have a picnic, but picnicking wasn't allowed at the spring so when we got back to the car we sat on a blanket behind the car and had a picnic in the parking lot! lol! We really had a good time and will probably be visiting it again many more times this summer!
PRINCESS BIRTHDAY PARTY
The girls were invited to a friend's birthday party this week. It was a PRINCESS PARTY! They made crowns, painted nails, put on earrings, and made candy necklaces. They had such a good time! Jay and I stuck around because he's not a fan of being inside the house and I thought the sandbox would entertain him more than anything I could do inside. As a result I was able to catch some good pics of the girls getting all princessed up!
NEOVEST SUMMER PARTY
Every year Neovest has a summer party at the park next to the Orem Pool and after dinner and games everyone goes swimming. We have always had fun going to dinner and enjoying the games afterward, but since Ty was always working, we have never been able to get in the pool and play afterwards. This year Ty is now working day shift so we were able to stay and play! The only picture that turned out was Ty right before the tug-a-war contest and I didn't think to take any at the pool (it would have been hard anyway). Ty's team unfortunately didn't win tug-a-war, but you should have seen the size of the guys on the other side. lol. They didn't have a chance! After that they let the kids hit piñatas. They still have a TON of candy in a bag from that. Crystal even got to take the last swing on the piñata she was hitting! There were balloon makers at the party also! They made the girls balloon crowns!
At the pool Crystal won first place in the submarine game (who can hold their breath the longest) and won a toy submarine! Ty won first place in their slide contest (who can skid across the water at the bottom the farthest) and got a gift card to 5 Guys! And Lily almost drowned and scared me clear to death. Ty had taken Crystal to go down the slide and I asked him to make Lily put on her vest first because I was following Jay up and down the little kid slide. He sent her to get her vest, but she stopped at the slide and said she was just going to play there (where it was shallow) so I stopped trying to fight her over it. It wasn't long before she was wandering the entire splash area swimming around. She's pretty good in the water so I wasn't overly concerned, but as it turns out this splash area gets a lot deeper than the Provo Pool that we are used to. I had no idea it got that deep or I NEVER would have let her wander around without her vest on. She got out of the pool at some point and jumped back in... but the water was over her head. She can swim under water but she doesn't 'float' well. So when she couldn't reach she didn't know what to do. THANK GOODNESS a lifeguard was watching her and SAVED HER LIFE! I didn't even see her jump in because my back was turned to watch Jay going up the slide. Ty was coming back from the slide, but he saw her at the same time as I did which was after the lifeguard had already jumped in after her and pulled her up from the water. Had he not seen her I don't even want to think of what would have happened! Needless to say she was forced (yes even after almost drowning she didn't want to wear it) to wear her vest the rest of the night. Jay's face also took a dive or two in the water, and he came up coughing and gagging. I didn't sleep well that night because I was sure one of them would die of secondary drowning in their sleep (yes i'm paranoid and we go swimming at least once a week so I have a lot of sleepless nights. haha). All in all the kids had a blast, and we all had a fun night!
BRIDAL SHOWER
My best friend Julia had her bridal shower on Saturday! This is her with her mouth full of marshmallows! I'm so happy for her, and I can't wait for July 25th to come around!!! Its going to be a super-fantastic and most wonderful day for her!!!!!
MY THOUSAND RANDOM PICTURES OF THE WEEK
STORE WEDNESDAYS
I started using pennies, nickels, and dimes as rewards for the girls instead of stickers (the stickers had lost all meaning at this point and weren't working at all. haha). So for a week they put their money in their piggy banks. On Wednesday I pulled out some things I had bought as rewards and stuck a price to them. Before the store 'opened' we counted their money. We then talked about tithing and how important it is to pay 10% of what we earn to Heavenly Father. Both of the girls were so excited to pay tithing for the first time! Then the store finally opened! The girls were very excited, but there were things they wanted (barbies) that they didn't have enough money for. I told them they would have to save their money if they wanted a higher priced item. I told them they could spend all their money today, save all their money for a more expensive toy, or get something small and save the rest of their money for something big later. They both chose a small toy, and saved what was left of their money for later. Lily is going to have the hardest time with this. She doesn't understand money well and REALLY wants one of those barbies!
DIPPING
Jay learned the art of dipping. He decided the french fry was too much work and started dipping his binky in the fry sauce. Haha.
Isn't he adorable?
We made letter g GLITTER GLUE this week! They had fun with this one!!!
I forgot to take a picture of our feather f's from last week.
Ty put Jay in the corner because he was keeping the girls awake yelling in his crib. Haha. Jay has seen the girls in the corner and how they act, so he sat down facing the wall and fake cried. He even rubbed his eyes and occasionally kicked his feet. I wasn't helping by laughing at him and taking pictures of it. It really was hilarious!
We went to Ty's Aunt and Uncle's house for Father's Day dinner. Their little girl and Jay are almost the same age. They were really cute together. Jay would turn the light off and she would turn it on. It was pretty funny to watch.
Ty had a good cluster at the archery range this week. So good he had to take a picture. Haha.
The girls found a stick that looks just like Jafar's stick in Aladdin. They made us take it home. It is still currently in the trunk. haha.
Lily was throwing a fit and Jay gave her a hug. It was adorable.
Patting her back.
Another hug.
Older sister was feeling left out so he gave her a hug too.
Jay has started picking up on our nightly prayer routine. He folds his arms when he hears the word 'prayer' and starts talking gibberish. Its adorable, but makes it hard to hear family prayer over his own prayers (he refuses to let anyone else pray. Its his turn every night. haha)
Jay just started dancing on Sunday afternoon while watching Bed-knobs and Broomsticks. Lily and Crystal joined in! Jay spun around so much that he actually fell and hit his head (of course... this kid and his head injuries!!).
