MEMORIAL DAY
We started our day by going to breakfast with the entire Cook Clan at Golden Corral. Then we headed over to Color Me Mine to use a gift card Uncle Todd and Aunt Brooke got the girls forever ago! They had SO MUCH FUN! They picked out plates to decorate. We also found a Father's Day present for Grandpa Gordon and a birthday present for Grandpa Cook ("I 'heart' Grandpa" mugs). Crystal painted her plate and Grandpa Gordon's Mug and Lily painted her plate and Grandpa Cook's Mug. It took them a while to get all the painting done even with us helping them put extra coats on. Entertaining Jay was the hardest part, but he did okay considering. I didn't get a picture of them with the painted plates because by the time we finished the kids were out of control and Ty took them outside. They were so excited that they drove me crazy all week asking when they would be finished and when we were going to pick them up! They were ecstatic when Friday finally came and we were able to pick them up! I was sure to get a picture of them with the finished product! They turned out so cute! So did the mugs! We gave them to Grandpas early so we could be there when they opened them. I wish I had gotten a picture of them but I didn't know we were going to give them to them early at the time and didn't want to spoil any surprises!
GROCERY STORE TOUR
Back to Memorial Day. After Color Me Mine, we went home for a bit and the girls of course had to play out back in the sandbox and new swing set. Then we headed to Ty's grandparents house for a bbq with the Cooks! We enjoyed spending time with family and having a relaxing day together! Then Tuesday was back to reality!!!
He had to eat the cupcake paper clean too. Couldn't leave ANYTHING on it. Haha.
DENTIST
We all had dentist appointments on Tuesday. The good news is we were all CAVITY FREE!!! My girls have always done so well with the dentist. In fact they get EXCITED when its time for cleanings! I dread the day when one of them actually has a cavity because I'm afraid they won't feel that way anymore when they actually need work done. Crystal's 6 year molars have fully come in so they put sealants on those permanent teeth. She did great even though it took a good 20 minutes on top of the time it took for the cleaning! I can't believe my little girl is old enough for adult teeth! She's lost one baby tooth with the permanent tooth already mostly in and has another loose tooth with the permanent tooth coming in behind it already! Even she can't keep up with them! Haha! After all that hard work, the dentist gave the girls free hamburger coupons so we went to McDonald's for lunch!
The dentist office has a nook in the back right next to the exam room with toys/coloring books/books to entertain the kids while we get cleanings done. I love it! (Forgot to get a pic of Lily in the chair so I told her to just show me her teeth. Haha)
J thought he needed a toothbrush also!
McDonald's Friends :D
GROCERY STORE TOUR
We went with a group of friends to a tour of Macey's Grocery Store on Friday. The lady who gave the tour was really good with the kids. She played follow the leader around the store to entertain them in between stops. We started in the Dairy Section and then she let them go behind the scenes to see the cooler from the back. The kids loved it, but ALL of them were grabbing their arms and shivering in the 'refrigerator.' Then she showed them how the box compactor worked! And the kids got to see a guy using the forklift in the back! Then it was time to check out the FREEZER. She let the kids walk in really quick and walk back out. Lily made it all the way in but Crystal (and most of the other kids) stopped at the door. Haha. Then we headed to the Meat Section. After that was the Produce Section where the kids pointed out the different colors of fruits and veges. Then came one of their favorite parts... the Bakery Section. She opened the door and let us peek in at the huge ovens and explained how it all worked. Then the kids all got a free cookie! At which point we moved on to the Deli Section where they all got a free ice cream sample! The kids LOVED that as well! Overall I think the kids really enjoyed their tour!
IDAHO FALLS
When Ty got home from work Friday, we headed for Idaho Falls for the weekend. Ty's cousin was being sealed in the temple and her baby was being blessed so we decided to make a short trip. On the way there we stopped for dinner where Jay ate FOUR chicken nuggets. Holy Moly! That's more than Lily usually eats! Haha! Growing Boy!
Saturday we spent the morning cleaning the yard to our house. The renters had left several garbage piles in the yard. Not sure why when its only 10 feet to the back where the garbage truck will take just about anything you put back there... anyway we completely filled the back of my dad's truck with rusty nail infested wood, tires (yes full sized tires), beer cans, broken toys, and all sorts of other junk, some of which we couldn't actually identify... yuck. It was not so much fun. We had lunch with my parents and went to Ty's cousin's sealing (which was amazing by the way). After a short play in the hot 'pool' as my children call it, we headed to GiGi's for a bbq. After dinner, we went to Grandma's school where her 5th graders put on an AMAZING performance of Aladdin. No really. It was amazing. They were SO good! And the girls LOVED it. The girls got to meet Jasmine and Aladdin afterwards. They thought they were meeting celebrities! It was awesome! Crystal's favorite was Jasmine and Lily loved 'the prince' as she called him. Haha. I didn't get the pic of her talking to Aladdin, but she was pretty excited about it! We headed back to GiGi's for dessert afterwards and the kids played in her backyard with cousins! After a quick stop at Grandma and Grandpa Cook's house to see Grandpa for a minute we headed back to my parents for the night. Grandpa Gordon got back in the 'hot pool' with the girls for a little bit and then it was finally time for BED! Whew! Long Day!!!!
Sunday we went to the baby blessing and luncheon afterwards where we enjoyed catching up with family for a bit and then headed back to my parents to eat again! Haha! The girls got to play with their cousin Millie for a few hours before it was time for us to leave. :( I always hate that part. The drive home was EXTRA long. Turns out Lily has a pretty sore throat and cried most the way home. Jay helped her out by crying himself quite a bit. We survived thank goodness, but we were very glad when we got home and were able to get out of the car!!!! Not to mention that sleeping in our own beds is always so nice! :D
Yep... We didn't put a onsie on under Jay's PJ's, so I found him like this when I checked on him that night. I hate onsies because Jay won't wait long enough for me to button them, and it's harder to check his diaper. lol. But I have had to start putting him in a onsie ALWAYS because otherwise his hand is permanently inside his diaper!
RANDOM PICTURES OF THE WEEK:
Figuring out the teeter-totter
Dip N Dot Painting
Egg Crunch!
Lily and Crystal chasing a HUGE butterfly outside of Color Me Mine on Friday after we picked up their projects. Seriously it was a beautiful yellow and black Swallowtail Butterfly. Pretty perfect since we are talking about butterflies right now in preschool! :D
