THE DENTIST
A few weeks ago we had our 6 month check ups at the dentist. Since our old dentist is 4 hours away in Provo (Ty wouldn't let me make the trip every 6 months or I would have ;-)), we had to find a new dentist a little closer. We made appointments with the dentist that one of Ty's co workers goes to, Dr. Greenhalgh. I loved him. He was so good with the kids and was very straight forward and open about what he was doing and why. Well despite how enjoyable the experience was, we all needed some work done. Ty had 2 cavities, I had a broken filling that needed replaced, Crystal had 2 permanent teeth that needed sealants, and Lily ... dear sweet Lily... had 4 cavities! Whew! I knew it was coming since I'd seen 2 of them while brushing her teeth a week before our appointment. They were all definitely cavities! Yikes!
Well this week was the week for getting everything fixed! I was mostly nervous about Lily. Crystal has never had a cavity and Lily hadn't before this, so I haven't had to deal with fillings on the kids until now. Crystal has had sealants done in the past, and it's easier than a cleaning, so no big deal. But Lily was going to have to get numbed up and her teeth drilled into. I was really worried about how she was going to handle it.
I took her in bright and early at 730 Monday morning which by the way felt like 630 since daylight savings helped us out the day before... haha. Lily did AMAZING! He was only going to fill 2 just to make sure she had a good "first filling" experience, but she did so well that he filled the other ones as well. He said she was probably the best 4 year old patient he's worked with.
She did have laughing gas to help out. She was saying the funniest things. lol. She told the dentist to only get out the bad sugar bugs and leave the good ones in. The dentist told her all the sugar bugs were bad, and she insisted there were good ones in her teeth and that he should leave them alone. He finally just promised to leave them alone. lol. She also blurted out out of the blue, "I take lots of showers!" The dentist said, "You know what I take lots of showers too." haha. I have no idea where it came from... she actually has only taken a few showers in her life. lol.
As soon as we got in the car though, she became a little more difficult (laughing gas wearing off I guess). She was a getting mean with me while I was buckling her in. Then she insisted that her lip was big. I couldn't convince her that it just felt big and wasn't really big. "Mom my lip is big!" "It feels big because its numb, but honey I promise doesn't look big at all" "No mom! Look at it it's huge!").
She refused to eat or drink anything which was fine with me. I HATE eating and drinking when my face is numb. As soon as we got home she laid on the couch and stayed there until 1 in the afternoon when she could feel her face again. Then she was back to her old self again!
To pass the time that morning, we watched 'Annie' and the newest 'Little Rascals' movie on Netflix. She's been singing 'Annie' songs ever since. Yesterday while getting dressed she was singing 'You're never fully dressed without a smile!' It was adorable! Crystal has been singing them too. They've also watched it 2 more times since then (and its kind of a long movie...). I couldn't be more happy :D. It was my favorite movie as a child, so I don't mind it becoming one of their favorites as well!
BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AT REED'S DAIRY
Reed's Dairy has a birthday club where they will send you a birthday coupon for a free cone during your birthday month. Well we have 3 birthdays in March, so last week we got 3 coupons in the mail for free cones! Monday we decided to get our cones for our FHE treat. Yum!
ROSCOE
Now I know the dog isn't in the picture... I'm just not fast enough. haha. But he plays fetch really well ... in the house at least ... he refuses to play outside. haha. We aren't sure why. Anyway, Ty threw the ball one night and one of the kids got in the way, and Roscoe just flew over her. Ever since then, Roscoe jumping over the kids to fetch the ball has become part of the regular nightly routine ;-). I couldn't get a good picture of it but I did manage to get a good video of it!
EATING LEGOS?!?!?!
Yep that's right. Those are legos in Jay's mouth. No worries. They are edible! My brother and sister in law gave us these candies for Christmas that are lego shaped. We just opened them this week (of course since we just got all our teeth fixed. haha). I was surprised to find they actually click together just like legos. I really hope Jay doesn't try eating the actual legos now... haha.
PRESCHOOL
I made Number Play Doh Mats for the kids! We are on number 17 this week. The kids loved it, and it was good practice for them. I'm going to be using these every week next year to try to help the kids remember their numbers!!!!
I WILL SURVIVE AND SO WILL SHE
This little girl in all her adorable sweetness is my cuddly child who will give everyone she sees a great big hug without hesitation. But it fascinates me how she can turn into quite the opposite within seconds. She is fiercely independent and often will throw a HUGE tantrum when someone innocently tries to help her with something. I've tried over and over to explain to her that when someone helps you, you should thank them for it ... not try to beat them up for it. haha. I seriously don't know what I'm going to do with her. I pray every night that I can find a way to teach her without breaking her strong sweet spirit.
Sometimes I think if only she'd take a short nap she'd feel better... well we can all see how well that went over. Haha... It's amazing how fast I can go from "her bestest girl in the whole wide world" to "the meanest mommy in the whole wide world." Whew! We will survive each other. Of that I am sure.
