Idaho Falls Again and the Girls First Haircut

I had to go to Idaho Falls again this week to take care of our house there. I ended up doing a lot more work on it than I expected. After deep cleaning the entire house, I refinished the hardwood floors, painted the bathroom and stairwell (over newly carpeted stairs... it was a little nerve racking), painted the front porch, and covered the entire bathroom so my dad could refinish the tub without spraying everything in the room. Ty was unable to be there because of work, but I had SO much help in the process. My SIL helped me clean (and always made sure to bring cookies to entertain the kids!). My little brother sanded the floors for me even though I laughed at him when the sander would win and pin him up against the wall. My mom helped me refinish the floors, paint the bathroom, and paint the front porch not to mention watching the kids for me when I was at the house late! My mother in law watched my kids for 2 days while I did the floors and painting and then she painted my front door for me also! My dad helped me with the sanding, repaired my front porch, and refinished the bathtub for me! I am SO thankful for such a wonderful family who went above and beyond to help me out when my husband couldn't be there to do the hard stuff! This week was full of new and scary experiences for me! I had to do things that I had never done and was worried I wasn't capable of, but my family was there for me every step of the way making sure everything was done right!

It was a rather exhausting week for the kids. They were up late most nights and spent the day in an empty house while I cleaned/worked. I gave them my phone the first day at the house to watch you tube videos/songs. Crystal started taking pictures. These are the pics she took:

Sanding the floors proved to be a difficult task. My dad laughed at me when I told him I was going to sand the floors. I asked my brother to come help me because my dad was busy and the sander was throwing him around everywhere at first. I then understood why my dad laughed. Haha. I wouldn't even touch it after watching my brother with it. I let him deal with the sanding. We were having a problem with the sanding discs. My dad brought us more than he thought we'd need and planned on returning what we didn't use. But we had 3 discs tear to pieces right after starting the machine! There didn't seem to be a specific reason for the tearing. Sometimes the new disc would work and sometimes it would tear to shreds! We unfortunately didn't have enough discs to finish after that. We needed one more to do an upstairs bedroom so my dad came the next day with another disc and finished sanding it. I was worried we had done something wrong especially since I noticed a few circular scratches in the floor while I was sweeping up dust! I was sick about it all night thinking I had messed up all the floors in the house. As it turns out the scratches are totally normal for an orbital sander and when I put the polyurethane on the floors the scratches became invisible. The floors turned out looking really good thank goodness!

After cleaning up dust from sanding the last room. This is about what all the rooms looked like. I just didn't think to take a before picture until I was in the last room!

Just finished the second coat on the floors!

This is how the girls looked when I got home. They were exhausted!

THE GIRLS FIRST HAIRCUT
Before I started the project of putting the finish on the floors I took the girls in for a haircut. Lily had cut her hair a while back. It wasn't noticeable but we decided we should take her in to get it evened out anyway. Crystal's hair grows faster in the back than the sides so we decided a haircut might be helpful for her. While we were there they both decided to get bangs cut also. Their hair turned out adorable! I absolutely love it!

Since my dad's birthday was coming up we decided to surprise him with a Rock N Roll Birthday Party after Priesthood Session of Conference! This is how the grandkids helped us celebrate!

These two were kissing their reflections in the mirror. J got down before I could get my camera out though!
