Lily's Week of Firsts and Lasts

First I'd like to point out that this was a VERY VERY long week for this Mamma. Jay came down with Hand Foot and Mouth Disease late last week. I had no idea what it was until the blistery rash formed Friday night. He'd had a slight fever the 2 days before but no other obvious symptoms. I assumed he had a mild virus and was getting over it since the fever was gone. Then the rash formed. It was horrible. He probably had 30 blisters on his hands, feet, and everywhere in between! The first night he cried half the night because his feet hurt and itched so bad that he couldn't sleep! I was crying too because I couldn't help him. I tried everything I could think of (Google failed me as well. haha). Saturday he was fine again. Cranky but fine. The blisters were still there and looked pretty horrible but they weren't bothering him anymore. Then Lily developed a sore throat and fever.... and Crystal the next day!
The problem is this darn virus is most contagious BEFORE you have any symptoms at all!!!! I was mortified when I realized what he had. All my preschool students, friends, and family had already been exposed to it! And 2 weeks before school was out! Not just that but this week was the girls' last week of gymnastics (we missed it, sad i know), Lily's last week of swim class, my preschool program, and Lily's swim meet. Not to mention preschool in general! WE DIDN'T HAVE TIME FOR A 2 WEEK QUARANTINE!!!! Which is the amount of time it can take for the blisters to heal! WHAT?!!?!?!
Ty gave them all a blessing and me as well!!! I used On Guard on all of them every few hours as soon as I found out what Jay had... as well as a coconut oil salve of every antiviral oil I owned. lol. Lily only had a few blisters form and Crystal had NONE (age may have had a factor in this but at least I FELT like I was doing something to help. lol)! Jay's blisters healed up and scabbed over pretty well by Tuesday! It was a miracle. Seriously! I was able to sanitize the house (including washing ever sheet and blanket we own) and preschool room in time for preschool on Thursday (had to cancel Tuesday)! Lily was able to go to her swim class on Wednesday! Crystal only missed 1 day of school and she begged me the entire day to just let her go to school because she was fine! lol.
I am so grateful we were able to accomplish as much as we did this week when it could have very well gone a totally different way! Now just one week of preschool left and 2 weeks of 1st grade! Summer vacation here we come!!!!

LILY'S LAST PRESCHOOL PROGRAM- Pete the Cat Program

Crystal's 1st grade teacher introduced me to the best series of picture books this year. I went home and ordered them immediately! With the CD's of course... it's just not the same if you don't get it right. Haha. Anyway my preschool kids LOVED the books and would repeat a lot of the words with the CD! It gave me a great idea to have them perform one of the books during the end of the year preschool program! So that's what we did!!! If I had been smart I would have had someone record it for me, but I didn't think about it. And I was too busy to even take any pictures! Oy!
I can't believe my little girl is finished with preschool!!! She got the Creativity Award this year! She loves to take her time creating her masterpieces! She'll sit in the preschool room hours after preschool is over finishing up projects that she didn't have time for during class. I've loved being her teacher these past 3 years and watching her first hand learn and grow!
My not so great Groovy Button Cookies. lol. They tasted good at least! Haha!

LILY'S FIRST SWIM MEET
I put Lily on a low competitive city swim team after she wore her swim suit under her clothes for over a month insisting that she wouldn't take it off until I took her swimming. Lol. Her end of session swim meet was Friday! She did a great job! I was so proud of her! She was pretty nervous at first because she wasn't entirely sure what was going on, but they had someone at her side the entire length of the pool and they would talk with her before each heat to make sure she knew what she was doing! It was great! I took pictures the first heat and recorded the other 3. And please don't mind her grabbing herself during the backstroke. She informed me right before her turn that she needed to pee. Oy! Haha. She did the best backstroke she's ever done! Usually she just sinks when she starts to move her arms and she actually stayed afloat for a second there on her own! Haha. I told her how proud I was and she said "Mom I had to go so fast so I could get to the end and go pee!" Lol.
