MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND
We went to Grandma and Papa Cook's property on Saturday. Lily caught her first fish! It was huge!!! Crystal decided she wanted to row! She lasted longer than I thought she would. We roasted marshmallows after we burned a bunch of caterpillar infested branches... yuck, but the s'mores were good! Then we went in the trailer and sang (a day late) Happy Birthday to Grandma!!! The cake made a great lunch. ;-)
Reeling in the huge fish was hard work!!
Saturday afternoon we left to head to Indian Creek to camp the rest of the weekend with my side of the family. We got up there and set up our tent in time for my parents to leave. So all the grandkids gave them goodbye hugs... all at once! Haha. They had to be in Rexburg for church the next day so they slept at home that night. I'm glad I packed more blankets than I thought I'd need because it was COLD! I think we stayed warm enough under blankets, but it's just not as comfortable to sleep when the air around you is that cold. Haha. (The second night my dad put a tent heater in our tent and hooked it to his generator. Had to run the generator all night but it kept us a lot more comfortable!)
We found a church in Swan Valley to go to for sacrament meeting on Sunday. Jay was being loud as usual and at one point someone around us didn't smell all that great, and Jay very loudly states, "Dad! Someone tooted! Who tooted? Someone stinks!!!! Who Stinks?" It was all rather embarassing. Oy. Haha. We stopped at Palisades Dam for a few minutes on our way home to read the signs and look out at the lake. After that we just relaxed while the kids played. They found a pretty awesome fort to play in and entertained themselves pretty well! It was so nice to have my nephews there for my kids to play with. They don't see each other nearly enough! I was sad my nieces had to leave before we got there so all the cousins were never together this weekend. Hopefully on the 4th of July! There was also horse shoes (i'm terrible at it. lol), the Razor, some exploring, some reading, and a lot of chatting.
When my parents got back that evening, Crystal asked them to go on a hike with her. Ty told Crystal he'd give her $5 if she could get Grandma to cross the creek. So of course Grandma did it. Haha. Then they had to come back across again... Grandma lost her balance halfway across and I was sure she was going in, but she JUMPED and landed in the branches on the bank. Phew. She made it. Haha. Jay and my youngest nephew felt bad they didn't get to walk on the log, so we found a log for them to walk on that wasn't over water. lol. And Grandma had no problem walking on that log. lol.
That night we had a family night lesson and Grandma had a huge glow party planned, but half the stuff didn't work the way we expected and it was cold and the kids (papa) were tired so we didn't do any of the activities. BUT the kids sure glowed well once we got all their gear on! The dessert table was pretty awesome as well!!!!
One last picture right before we left. Jay was more grumpy than usual. Oy. And he didn't sleep at all on the way home!!!
