Lily's Bee Sting

Ty is allergic to bees so I've always been worried about one of the girls getting stung. They are so tiny that if that had an allergic reaction it could be scary. Well this summer Lily picked a flower that a bee had apparently already claimed as its own. It was late in the summer and the bees were getting slow and clingy. They wouldn't just fly away when you'd walk by, they'd just kinda linger around you. Well Lily didn't know any better and when the bee didn't fly off, she kinda caught it in her hand. At which point the bee stung her. Her entire hand swelled up almost immediately. We gave her Benadryl and other than the swelling in her hand she seemed okay, but the sting hurt pretty badly. Thank goodness for google (how did our parents do it? lol). We quickly learned that a baking soda paste would take the pain away, so we tried it and it worked almost immediately!

The inside of her left hand.

Poor Girl was in pain and still didn't understand why.

When she realized the baking soda made the pain go away, she took the bowl from Ty and put it on herself. He apparently wasn't putting enough on.

The more the better right?

We just had to laugh!

We did ask the doctor if we needed to get an epi-pen in case it happened again. Ty's sting reactions have been worse every time he gets stung so we were a little concerned. The doctor said she'll probably be okay getting stung a couple more times before we need to worry about an epi-pen. She'll probably just swell a little bit more each time. Hopefully it just doesn't happen again! Its so hard to see my babies in pain!
